144/240 Hour Policy Essentials

240 hours (10 days): Currently, it mainly applies to the specific policy of Guangdong Province for foreign groups in Hong Kong and Macao.

144 hours (6 days): Applicable to major transit ports such as Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.

China's National Immigration Administration recently issued an announcement to fully relax and optimize the transit visa-free policy from now on, extending the stay time of transit visa-free foreigners in China from the original 72 hours and 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days), and adding 21 new ports as entry ports for transit visa-free personnel, and further expanding the stay activity area. Qualified personnel from 54 countries including Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada can enter China visa-free from any of the 60 ports open to the outside world from 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and stay in the specified area for no more than 240 hours.

1. Citizens who belong to 54 countries that apply the transit visa waiver policy:

2. You must hold your valid international travel document, valid for no less than 3 months, and meet the entry conditions for a third country (region).
 
3. It is necessary to hold a connecting ticket or relevant certificate to a third country (region) with a confirmed date and seat within 240 hours, fill in the temporary entry alien entry card, and accept inspection and inquiry by the entry-exit border inspection authority.
 
Foreigners who meet the above conditions can apply to the border inspection authorities of 60 ports in Beijing, Shanghai and other places in China, and the border inspection authorities will go through temporary entry procedures for them, and the visa-free stay time will be calculated from 0:00 on the second day of entry. Those who meet the requirements of the mutual visa exemption agreement signed with our country or our unilateral visa-free policy can follow its provisions.
